After Queensland's strong comeback in State of Origin game 2, the stage was set for a magnificent clash in game 3. Unfortunately (for most of us), the Blues proved the better team and waltzed away with a 30-12 win on the back of Nathan Cleary.
Now this is something that bothers me every year. I'm going to be perfectly honest, I don't quite understand all the Blues supporters who live in Queensland. You live here — so why wouldn't you support our local team? And this is not a fringe issue that I'm ranting about — recent data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed that there are twice as many Blues supporters who live in Queensland compared to the number of Maroons supporters who live in NSW. So what is going on?
I can understand to some degree if you were born in NSW and spent your early years there, before moving here later. That's similar to how Origin players are selected: it's where they spent their formational years. But if you were born in Queensland, I'm sorry — but you have no excuse rooting for the Cockroaches. Just because your parents were from NSW doesn't make you a New South Welshman. More maroon and less blue, I say!
