It’s Lime Time: Researchers at the University of Queensland in Brisbane are investigating the nutritional properties of native Australian citrus, which have been used by Indigenous Australians for thousands of years. There are six species of citrus that are only found in Australia — the highest number of citrus species native to any country in the world! Finger lime is the best-known Australian citrus species; others include Gympie lime and desert lime. For many of these species, it is the first time they have been thoroughly investigated from a scientific perspective. The researchers hope to uncover the unique components of our native citrus, which may make them useful as health-promoting foods or medicines.

People who exhale more carbon dioxide, have certain body odours, or have recently consumed bananas or beer are all more attractive to these whining pests. Pregnant women are also commonly targeted. However, it seems to be a myth that mosquitoes are more attracted to specific blood types.
